Sunset Square

Overview

Sunset Square is a 3-story stacked townhome development by PulteGroup, located in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The project includes multiple residential buildings, comprising 28 luxury townhomes. Each residence is equipped with high performance windows and a heat pump for heating and cooling with advanced Rheia® duct systems, all of which decreases energy usage and increases occupant comfort and air distribution. 

ReVireo conducted energy modeling to provide strategic consulting to evaluate all available energy code compliance pathways during the design phase, enabling PulteGroup to select the option that minimized cost and complexity. Through this analysis, value engineering opportunities were identified to reduce expenses related to insulation and window specifications.

Energy code compliance was continuously verified throughout both the design and construction phases of the project by using the Home Energy Rating System (HERS®) process, which offers many advantages: 

• Provides a performance-based approach that offers flexibility in design for meeting code requirements while minimizing costs 
• Generates permit documentation for submission to municipality 
• Enhances quality control through independent third-party testing and verification at multiple stages of construction, ultimately reducing risk  
• Streamlines the energy code compliance process and helps minimize inspections failures 

The result is a high-quality, forward-thinking residential development that supports and contributes to the continued growth and revitalization of Asbury Park.
