Estates at Hunterdon Hills

Overview

Roberston Douglas Group’s Estates at Hunterdon Hills consists of two, 6,000 sq ft single family homes located in the rolling countryside of Union Township, NJ. The project was required to demonstrate compliance with the New Jersey Energy Code.

ReVireo performed energy modeling and consulting during the design phase for Robertson Douglas Group. After analyzing all the options available, the project team determined that it would be most cost-effective to pursue code compliance using a HERS Rating and whole-house performance measures. The performance code compliance pathway allowed the project team more flexibility in choosing specifications and achieving testing thresholds than the traditional prescriptive pathway. Third party inspections at multiple stages in the construction process ensured that these homes were efficiently meeting code requirements and kept the project team accountable to a higher standard of quality that comes along with a HERS Rating. The HERS Rating assures the new homeowners that the homes are built to be more comfortable, durable and efficient by quantifying the homes energy consumption and utility bills.
