BLDG-UP (Ben LoPiccolo Development Group, LLC) is developing a new multifamily building in Jersey City, New Jersey—featuring a six-story residential building with a one-story parking garage attached, totaling approximately 67,000 square feet.
ReVireo was engaged on the project during the design phase to support compliance with the New Jersey commercial energy code (ASHRAE 90.1–2019) for permit submission. Working closely with the development and design teams, ReVireo conducted energy modeling via the Chapter 11 pathway, to verify that the proposed building would comply with the energy code. Chapter 11 pathway allows greater design flexibility than a traditional COMcheck. This allowed for the project to significantly reduce construction cost, while maintaining an energy efficient building.
The energy modeling results confirmed a 15.5% reduction in energy costs compared to the code baseline, which ensures the building’s energy performance aligned with project goals and delivers long-term operational efficiency for the owner and occupants.
